This is a high-quality Giclée print, produced on 310gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper. The map, which I began drawing in June 2019 and completed in June 2020, is inspired by over 1,000 years of London’s history. Drawing from a wide range of maps spanning the medieval period to the present day, this piece blends historical and modern elements. The research process, which was one of the most rewarding aspects of this project, involved studying medieval inns, tracing pre-Great Fire of London (1666) street plans, and reconstructing Christopher Wren’s lost spires, merging them with the modern skyline of London as it stood in 2020.
